Galaxy Girls continue solid start to season

The girls travelled to Harborough Town on Sunday for our league fixture. After a loss last week it was important for the girls to start the game strong and in a good mindset. Harborough started the game well and used their pace and physicality early on and created some good opportunities. The home team went ahead on 7 minutes taking advantage of the Galaxy's slow start.

Harborough got in behind again and only a fantastic save from Bobbi getting a strong hand to the ball as she dived to her left to divert the goalbound effort wise of the post for a Harborough corner.

The Galaxy girls did start to create chances as the half wore on and managed to get back into the game. The home defence failed to clear the ball following a short corner and the ball dropped to Evie who slotted the ball home on 26 minutes.

After a half time chat and a small tweak to the line up the girls came out and began to dominate the game. Better pressure and more opportunities in behind the Harborough defense meant we had more opportunities than in the first half with Harborough still offering a threat on the counter with their 4-3-3 formation.

On 57 minutes Millie put the Galaxy's ahead. The ball finding her 25 yards out she took one touch and then struck the ball over the keepers head and high into the goal.

Despite creating the better of the remaining opportunities we were unable to further extend the lead and so had to stay solid in defence. Jess marshalled the defence superbly all game, covering for her defensive partners when needed and playing the ball calmly when she had time to do so.

All in all a better performance than last week as we get back on the right track.
